Lazy Moms

Lazy Mom has a post today called confessions.

Hmmmmm what lazy thing do I do that NEEDS to be confessed. See my husband reads this and there are a few lazy things that are better off kept to myself. ie: hoping to be sick on a few weekends so I can enjoy laying in bed and reading a great book. Opps did I just confess something???

I have also learned that dishes can't talk!!! So if you leave them there a little too long..... you won't hear complaining. Unless your family complains about not having any spoons or forks to eat with!!! Plastic comes in handy!!!

Easter

Tyler always waits until the minute I am walking out of his room at night to start talking about his day. Here was the conversation:

T- Mom, did you know Jesus died on the cross?

M- yes, I did know that (who do think tells you that??)

T- Before they nailed him to the cross, his guards were really mean to him.

M- oh really

T- Then after he died they wrapped him in cloth and put him in the tomb.

M- that's right. Good job buddy.

T- Then they rolled the stone away.

M- (I'm just smiling at him)

T- Did you know that Mary went to the tomb and Jesus was gone?

M- I did know that

T- You know where Jesus was?

M- Where?

T- He rose from the dead.

M- That's right. That's what Easter is about. Remember?

T- All that stuff happened on Easter?

M- Well the resurrection did.

T- That's a lot of stuff!!!

Looks who's 2!

Lydia is 2 today! I'm having a hard time with the fact that we won't have another one year old in the house again. Unless God has something up his sleeve!! Which he could.

The day Lydia was born was a fast day. My mom came over early that morning to stay with Sydney and Tyler. She took Sydney to Mother's day out and went home with Tyler. As she was doing that I was being hooked up to all the fun monitors. The contractions were getting very painful. I had already asked for the epidural. I had a new nurse, bless her soul! She kept telling me I had to have my blood taken and the results had to be returned to her before I could have an epidural. An hour later I got cranky and demanded I get it now!!! She finally gave in. Lydia's birth was the most painful out of all three. But I also think it's because it was super fast too.

2 hours after being hooked up to everything my mom calls. She asks for Scott..... hmmm... something isn't right. She had gone out into the garage for something and sweet Tyler shut the door and locked her out! He didn't know how to open doors at the time. We figured I would be in labor for a long time, so Scott ran home and let her back in the house. We only live 15 minutes away from the hospital. When he left the hospital I was dilated to a 5.

I started feeling funny. The nurse came in and told me to change positions. I asked her to check me because I felt really weird. She did..... I was a 10!! I called Scott and he had just gotten home. He sped back to the hospital. Not even 3 minutes after he walked in, my doctor walked in! I gave two pushes and Lydia was here!!! It was fast!! I called my mom soon after. She thought I was teasing because she had just seen Scott!! I am so thankful Scott didn't miss the birth!!

Why is it that women love to tell their birthing stories???

Happy Birthday Sweet Lydia. You are such a sweet little girl. I will never stop kissing those sweet cheeks! I pray you come to know the Lord at a young age and live a life dedicated to Christ.

April's goal

Family dinners are very important to me. I love looking around the table and seeing all five of us gathered together. We eat, laugh, remind kids of manners, tell them to sit a hundred times, get up to get something for someone more than a hundred times....... BUT I love it.

My April goal is to set the table in a pretty way. I'm going to use place mats, flowers, maybe even real plates (we'll see about that one) and other things that I can't come up with yet. I welcome suggestions. I want the kids and Scott to look forward to the way I dress the table in the month of April!! I want them to feel special and be excited about the time we eat together.

There's a saying "Families who eat together, stay together". Well, we will always stay together, but I still find it very important. Life only gets busier and this is a place we can come together and bond more.

Scott and I went to a marriage retreat this weekend. One thing they talked about was being too busy and how bad that is for a marriage and family. In this stage of life we are not too busy and I love that. We stay home a lot during the day and enjoy home life. Scott and I make sure not to busy ourselves in the evenings. It's not worth being away from family!! I hope to keep life mellow!!! Busyness stresses me out! I'll post pictures of the dinner table in April. It will keep me accountable!

Uncle P!

This is what went on when Uncle Philip stopped by today!!!!

First tooth.....

It was a big day Sunday. Sydney lost her first tooth! She was very brave. She begged Scott to pull it. No tears!

The tooth fairy left $6. Yep, $6. I think Sydney has her daddy right where she wants him!

Dr. Visit

This morning the kids and I went to the pediatrician's office. Lydia has had a fever for a few days so I thought we would get her ears checked. She does not like going. I tried to get her to stand on the scale and had no luck.

So the nurse said, "Hold her and I will weigh you both and then have you stand alone and I will subtract the difference".

Huh??

You want me to stand on the scale in front of all of you so that we can find out Lydia is the same weight she was the last time we were here.

Really??

Things I do for my kids. It's all love......

Well, I now know what I weigh with and without a child in my hands. I couldn't use the "I just had a baby" because she was in my arms and she's not really a baby anymore!!!

Budget

We have a budget.

If it was a big budget it would be fun. But we don't and it's not.

Tonight my friend, Sheridan, and I went to Sam's, Walmart and Target. We had our spreadsheets and filled out the cost of items we use all the time. It was a process BUT very beneficial!
I always thought Target was so much more expensive then Walmart. Not so. Walmart seemed to always be 2 cents cheaper on things. Now, we priced brands that we use NOT cheapest brands possible. We both enjoy organic - her more than me. (on a side note: I introduced her first born to Cheetos. They can thank me later. Aunt Carrie will feed them the GOOD stuff:))
Target is a much better environment to shop in. So I will be going to Sam's and Target a lot more. I'll post my findings later.
You should try it - it was fun. I feel powerful!

Father and son

Today the kids and I went for a walk. As we were walking Tyler said, "Dad needs to get his jeep working. I'm starving for off roading". I thought it was cute. They love to go offroading together. The girls and I stay back and shop!! I need to raise them up right - "shoes do matter".

Ten Minute Task

Here's a ten minute task I'm sharing with Lazy Moms.
This task takes a little longer than 10 minutes BUT I only do it once a month. I buy fresh veggies: carrots, squash or all kinds, zucchini, sweet potatoes etc. I steam all the veggies, puree them, and then freeze them in little containers.

Every night I will pull a different frozen puree out and hide it in my dishes I make. No one ever knows they are there and my kids are eating healthy! Our favorite are waffles with pureed carrots. Yummy!!!

Site to see

My mom just opened her own ETSY shop. We only put on one type of item tonight. But in a few days we will add bags for travel and children's aprons. Go check it out! She's an amazing woman!

Go to www.etsy.com and then under seller's username type: delightsmysoul

10 minute makeover

I found a fun new site called Lazy Moms. I won the contest the other day - thanks for voting (if you did!). They had a 10 minute makeover challenge. So I thought I would play along.

I used my armoire in my bedroom. It's quite embarrassing. My room is a free for all. We are growing out of this house. Honey, it's time to build the dream home!!!

On top of it you will find a woman and a giraffe that Scott brought home from Africa (in Oct - a long time ago). Inside the armoire is actually organized even if it doesn't look like it.

I shopped the house and found a few things. 10 minutes later .......... much better. I still need to find glass ball things to go in the vase. I put my favorite wedding picture up and used two of my older Bibles to raise it up higher. It could be better but it was free and fast. Makes me happy!!
